Some New Stuff

So, here are a couple new things going on in our house.....

She dumps all of her blocks out of her dump truck and then cries until I put her in it and pull her all over the house. Sounds fun...right? I learned a valuable mom lesson with the dump truck-Don't ever let your child do something once thinking that they will not want to do it again or don't ever assume they will forget...they forget nothing. Anyway, now I am pulling my child all over this big empty house in her dump truck. Poor Mae Mae is having to take extra medicine for her back because now she is pulling her all over the house. Grace grabs a couple of her favorite buddys and then we are off. Okay...moving right along to this: Temper Tantrums

We are beginning to have melt downs. She wants what she wants when she wants it, and if things don't go exactly as planned we throw a fit. Sometimes they are so funny that I have to turn my head to laugh. The best ones are when she turns her back to me and bends over with her hands on the ground and then toots because she is so mad. Those are the best!!! Finally....looking out the window:

Grace loves to stare out the window and bark like a dog. I can actually empty the dishwasher and fold a load of cloths while she stares out the window barking like a dog. The outside dogs will come up to the window where she is and just sit wondering exactly what is this little thing. So, these are the extremely excited events happening in our house right now. It must be nice to be a little person...they have not a worry in the world. We could all learn a lot from kids!! :)

We Did It!!!

this pop up toy has caused grace many stressful tears...

but not anymore....she did it!!!

in the mornings when she first gets up she immediately starts pointing at it and gets straight to work. anyone who knows grace knows that she doesn't have much patience. we are working on getting some, but we aren't quite there yet. anyway, when the things don't pop up right away she usually has a melt down, throws it, and then starts back to work on it. this was a good morning for us because she finally accomplished what she has been working on for a while now. the look on her face was priceless.
so, later on in the afternoon i go into the wash room while mae mae is feeding grace a snack. well, i go by the dirty cloths hamper and taylor starts acting really weird. she is weird dog...but her behavior was really weird. long story short: there is a huge snake wrapped around the cloths hamper and thank goodness it had gotten stuck on some sticky mouse pads i had put behind there. i am running around screaming and mae mae is running around screaming and here is grace

she was laughing her butt off at us. any mom knows it's moments like these where you go grab your camera for yet another priceless picture. so, it was yet another day in the tackett house. there is never a dull moment around here. oh yeah...we are still working on the house. we got our second wind, so i will have to post some pictures soon. i don't know exactly why i do this blog...does anyone ever really read these things???

We Have Teeth

Photobucket
we can finally see grace's two bottom teeth. who knew two teeth could be so exciting? today when she was smiling at me so big...like i was the most wonderful thing on this planet...i couldn't help but feel a bit sad. it hit me that here are those two teeth, then there would be a mouth full of teeth, then she would be talking, then she would be in school, and the list goes on and on. i know i need to stay in the moment and not project, but i find myself almost mourning a bit after each little milestone my sweetie pie meets. my mom was right: i never understood how much she loved me until i had grace. there just aren't words to even explain it. when i look at her i thank God because she is by far the best blessing i could have ever asked for. life sure does have a funny way of working itself out.

The First Blog

Photobucket
this picture is where i truely believe that my life and brad's life really began. we sat in that hospital room waiting on grace to arrive not exactly knowing how our lives would change. don't get me wrong...before grace was born our life still had meaning, but when she made her glorious appearing our life really began.
Photobucket
this picture is one of the latest pictures of grace...isn't she cute??!!! when she was born she had a head full of hair that stuck out in all directions. she literally looked like she was born with a wig on. anyway, i love this picture because her hair is wild just like it was the day she was born. okay, i guess i will update ya'll on what is going on in our house. right now grace is into books, books, books. i mean this child loves books. when you enter her room you can't even see the carpet for books covering the floor.
Photobucket
my mom recently bought her some weesqueaks (for those of you that don't know they are just shoes that squeak when she walks). well, right now we are learning how to put them on. once they are one she jumps up and down over and over again laughing at them squeaking.
Photobucket
she is just now getting into "real food". after two choking incidents with cherios at five months and then not getting her first two teeth until 13 months, her "crazy" mom has held her back until now. at 13 months i packed up all the bottles and made myself a promise that no matter what i wouldn't get them back out and i would try the baby whisperer's advice on cutting out bottles and getting her to sleep through the night. well, i did it...after many many questions to laura who has helped me out so much with this "mom thing"!!! grace's favorite food at the moment is the gerber graduate's ravioli meal.

i just wanted to catch everyone up on what is going on at our house. i feel so silly typing such simple things, but as all mom's know...anything that your child does/loves is the most wonderful thing in the world. plus, i read all your blogs so maybe i can get a few of you interested in what is going on in my life. oh yeah...brad is getting everything ready on the farm for yet another farm year. i have managed to do my first round of w-2s and 1099s (with gale's help). i hope that my posts will get better with time...hang in there with me.
